How to find schools and apply in Canada

Statistics have shown that Canada welcomes the third-highest number of study visa holders in the world, just behind the United States and Australia and there are currently over 640,000 international students in Canada drawn from across the globe actively studying.

It will also interest you to know that the Canadian Government has just increased the Working hours for Students from 20 to 40 hours per week in certain sectors. This is to ensure more working hours for Students while they study to enable them to raise enough finance to cater to their needs Post-COVID -19.
Furthermore, despite the COVID-19, Schools are accepting Applications, the Express Entry system remains operational and candidates can still submit a profile.
So far, IRCC has held a total of 12 Canadian Experience Class and PNP draws over the past two months.

So tell me why you haven’t applied to study in Canada as its clearly a good route to gain Canada Work visa, Permanent Resident, and eventually become a citizen?

Searching for programs in Canada
To begin, it is important to answer these six (6) questions:

1. What do I want to study & at what level (undergrad or grad)?
2. Which Canadian Uni offers the program?
3. What are the admission requirements?
4. Am I eligible?
5. How will I fund my program?
6. When/How to apply?

1. What do I want to study & at what level (undergraduate or graduate)?

Answer the following yourself.

-What’s my current level of education?
-What do I currently do or plan to professionally do in the future?
-What are my interests?
-Which program will suit this purpose?

2. Which Canadian University offers the program?

For instance, if a Masters in Computer Science is what you are considering, use this keyword to search on Google’s “Masters inience Computer Sc program in Canada” or contact a specialist.

3. What are the admission requirements & costs?

From the info you got on Google, narrow down your choice and check the specific requirements of each university offering the program.

Look out for required grade average, tuition, available funding, application fee, deadlines, etc

4. Am I eligible?

Now that you know the admission requirements, you will already know if/how to proceed.

Admission requirements vary by program/university, but generally, if you are applying for an undergraduate program, the main focus will be on your high school results.

4b. How good your high school results should also depend on the program/university

If you are applying from Nigeria, a minimum admission average of at least C4 is what I have mostly seen. This is calculated using 5 subjects.

Confirm what the school you are applying to requires.

4c. If applying for graduate study (Masters/Ph.D.), six factors are generally considered.

A) Grade
B) Letter of Intent
D) Letters of Recommendation
E) Proposed Research (if applying for thesis-based programs)
F) English Proficiency (if the previous Degree was not in English)

Number of British students choosing to study in China soars

The number of British students choosing to study in China has soared in the past year, latest figures reveal, leading experts to predict the country could overtake the UK as a top university destination within the next couple of years.

More than 397,000 international students went to China in 2015 – an increase of more than double within the past ten years – making it the third most popular destination for overseas students ahead of Canada, Germany and France.

Of those students, the number of UK residents seeking degrees or work exchanges in China has more than tripled within the same amount of time.
